Big Brothers

Published by Jess under Family

The boys have really taken to Megan. Ethan thinks she is really cute and since he’s been through all this before doesn’t seem to mind the crying. Danny loves being a big brother but really wishes she wasn’t so loud sometimes. The other night Megan was crying because of one of her breathing treatments (she has RSV) so Danny quick went and got Megan a dolly. He put the doll right next to her so she could look at while she got her meds then turned to me and said “Mommy Megan needs her dolly it makes her feel better so she won’t cry so much”

Here are a few snap shots of the boys with her.

Megan

Published by Jess under Family

Our little girl is here! Megan made her grand entrance into the world on Jan 22 at 3 in the afternoon about two weeks early. Getting here was only half her idea. I started having contractions the morning of the 21 but as is par for us I told Jared they weren’t real and they would just send us home. By noon he had convinced me that we should at least let the dr. make that decision so we called my mother in law and she watched the boys while we went off to the hospital for what I was pretty sure would be a short visit. Well they determined it wasn’t quite full on labor and would have sent me home but Megan wasn’t moving like they would have liked so they couldn’t. So we stayed a while longer and still no movement or very little so in came the ultrasound machine. We got to see her sucking her fist and lots of other stuff but still no movement.  We poked her to try to get her to move and just about everything we could think of for 30 mins but still nothing. Babies sleep in 30 min intervals and her heart rate was fine so we got to stay a little longer so they could monitor her and were told that another ultrasound might be in the near future. At this point they moved us over to labor and delivery. Still more waiting with very little movement but mean while my contractions had picked up a little and I had made some progress so maybe it was real labor after all. Around 10 that night Megan still wasn’t moving like they would have liked so they decided to add in some potosion to speed up my contractions and  just get her out. Ok so I really don’t like needles, I mean I really really don’t like them and have been known to pass out just from giving blood. I know I know total girl reaction but true. Usually this isn’t an issue with labor for me because my contractions distract me and I do ok. Not this time they came in to start my IV and guess who hyperventilated and almost passed out! Ugh! After my little episode they hooked me up to some O2 for a while so I could calm down then started the potosin. It was working great for the first little bit then they upped it and all my contractions stopped. For the next 12 hour I would have contractions pretty steady for a while then everything would stop again and still Megan wasn’t moving much but still had a good pulse so no distress. Finally around 2 in the afternoon I had progressed enough for them to break my water. I had held off on getting my epidural until now but very soon after I was asking for it. Little did we know Jared was coming down with the flu so right about the time oh they were midway through giving me my epidural Jared tried to pass out on them. After that the nurse decided to just hang out with us in our room which was a good thing because pretty much right after Megan was ready for her grand entrance. The resident barely made it into the room before she got there and the Dr didn’t.Within a hour of Megan’s arrival Jared was very very sick so I ended up sending him home. Megan a pretty peaceful girl so it wasn’t a big issue for the two of us. Luckily it was only a 24 hour bug so by the next day Jared was able to drive up and pick us up from the hospital to take us home. Jared had taken my camera home with him in the car so there are no real pictures of Megan at the hospital. Luckily both Megan and I did not get the stomach bug.

She was born at 6 lb 3 oz 19 3/4 inches long.

TPed living room

Published by Jess under Family

Yesterday I was actually feeling like a real person again and decided to brave the store with the boys to get stuff for camp. So off we went to Sam’s club and while were there I got the great idea of buying toilet paper in bulk. Well all was fine until we got home and I realize I was dead tired after our little outing. I decided to veg of the couch for a little bit umm leaving the boys less than supervised. While I was off in lala land the boys opened said toilet paper and preceded to TP my living room. Do you have any idea what 36 rolls of toilet paper look like all over your living room? No well I didn’t either until yesterday.  It’s insane. I couldn’t even see the carpet for the toilet paper. It was hung from the chandelier the bookshelf was wrapped in it. It took over half an hour to clean up and I’m still finding bits of toilet paper around my house. Boys are just insane!

As I’m writing this both boys are in the other room belting out the theme song to Scooby Doo! Danny is playing this little guitar I picked up for the boys at a garage sale today it just the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. I’m off to see if it looks as funny as it sounds.

Baby x first photo shoot

Published by Jess under Family

ultrasound 2

Here we are with the first ultrasound pictures from today. Baby x is about 8 weeks 6 days along so he/she looks a lot like a peanut but we are pretty sure it’s a baby not a peanut. Only one in there and everything looks just fine or so the Dr said. So that makes baby x due right about Feb 5. Now only a million more weeks to go oh and I get to look about as big as a house. Never a good sign when the Dr feels your uterus and says wow it really is big huh…umm maybe? Now I have confirmation that not only do I feel huge maybe I really am. The sucky part is I seem to have a hate relationship with food going on these days, I’m hoping it will end soon but keep your fingers crossed. But it’s all worth it in the end.

The boys are taking the news pretty well I think though Danny is still convinced I ate a baby and that’s why it’s in my tumus. Ethan is over the moon and cant wait till the baby gets here. He is requesting a girl this time since he already has a boy he says but it would be ok if it’s a boy. He asked today after seeing the pictures if he could go out and buy the baby a special toy just for the baby. It was really sweet.

Duct Tape

Published by Jess under Family

Duct tape its a little boys best friend or so I’m learning. The other day the boys found a whole roll. Now I should have known they were up to something when it got really quite but nope I wanted to finish putting away laundry. So I came down stair to walk quite literally into a sticky trap. It seems the boys had decided to make a trap for the bad guys who would be attacking the house any min. They had duct taped the garage door shut as well as the basement door. They then ran duct tape from one door knob to the other several times hence the walking into the duct tape part. Now here is the kicker they then duct taped my mop to the wall! Luckily for the boys no paint was damaged in this. I however am considering a ban on duct tape to our house since this is not the first trap they have made.

My New Camera

Published by Jess under Family

Back in Feb Jared preordered my birthday present. He finally told me what it was right before my birthday, a new camera. However, it wasn’t until about a week ago that we actually got the camera. So what camera huh? The canon 5D Mark II!!! The coolest camera ever! I’m still trying to figure out what all the features on it are. Seriously this thing makes my old camera look like a simple point and shot. It’s so much fun! It has 21.4 mega pixels which is just crazy and does full HD video with manual controls. There are some people working on an Iphone application that will turn my iphone into a remote trigger for it. I also splurged and got a nice new camera strap to go with it. Umm did I mention my husband is awesome! I had been saving up not for this camera but the one just a little below it so instead I get to use that money for a new lens!camerastrap

Life update

Published by Jess under Family

You may have noticed I took down the password protection it was a little buggy it seems and I’m figuring that having the site offline for most people for the past month or so will have stopped the nasty people. So we will give this a try.

We just got back from our annual trip down to Red River Gorge, Kentucky. 5 days of camping and rock climbing. We had pizza every day for lunch and smores every night. Yup it was a real healthy trip. We learned about copper head snakes, black widow spiders and poison ivy. All of which lucky for us turned out well. I only questioned my sanity on the last day while Jared was rock climbing in the rain and I was trying to keep the boys dry and out of climbers way while looking for snakes. I got some amazing pictures but I’m still working on weeding though them. You can check out a few of them on my photo blog www.fairytoes.com (the blog is transferring into a blog site to take over as my photography website right now).

In other news Ethan had his last day of school on Wednesday last week so we are now officially out for the summer. Ethan is a little sad and so am I to be honest but it nice to not have to be somewhere at a certain time as well. We plan on going to the zoo, and playing at lots of parks this summer.

People are Jerks!

Published by Jess under Family

Ok so I’ve tried to ignore this but I have been getting a fair number of really nasty comments on the blog from inconciderate closed minded individuals. I’ve declined to post them but still I see them and it bothers me. People can be such jerks sometimes. To stop the harassment this blog will become password protected most likely tonight sometime, so if you would like to still be able to view the blog make a comment here and I’ll let you know how it will all work. I’m sadden that I feel I have to do this but unfortuantly for my piece of mind I feel it is necessary. It’s a sad world we live in today.

100% Boy

Published by Jess under Family

Since I haven’t had lots of time for blogging lately I thought I would take 5 mins a share my favorite picture from this last week. These were taken with my iphone so excuse the quality. We were playing the backyard and all of the sudden I looked up to find two almost naked boys on the trampoline. I was laughing so hard it was hard to tell them to put there clothes on. I guess they were celebrating spring in there own way.
